Our Team
Johnny Kwong, BScPhm, RPh
Johnny, a University of Toronto graduate, possesses an extensive 47-year background in community pharmacy. Proficient in English, Chinese, Cantonese, Fukien, and Mandarin, Johnny and his wife Ruth established their first independent pharmacy in 1977 in Toronto's Chinatown, later relocating to 302 Spadina (our current location) in 1985 at the heart of Chinatown, becoming integral figures within the Chinese community. Beyond their charitable contributions, they share a love for golf. Notably, in June 2023, Johnny partnered with Alfred Loy to launch Emerge Pharmacy.
Alfred Loy, B.sc.Phm, R.Ph
Alfred, also known as Al, holds a degree from the University of Toronto and brings over 29 years of expertise as a community pharmacist. After operating a large chain pharmacy for over a decade, Al redirected his attention towards delivering individualized patient care, with a focus on natural remedies and supplements. A noteworthy transition occurred when Al teamed up with Johnny Kwong in June 2023 to establish Emerge Pharmacy, marking a thrilling new chapter in their professional journeys.
Amelia, B.Sc.Phm, R.Ph
A University of Toronto graduate in 1981, Amelia has been dedicated to delivering pharmaceutical care to her community. Fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin, her approach involves attentive listening and genuine care. Amelia consistently exceeds her pharmacist role by offering exceptional assistance to Chinese seniors, going above and beyond her duties to provide support and aid.

With over ten years of dedicated service to the Chinese community, Susan brings more than just pharmaceutical expertise to our patients each day. Her unwavering commitment and passion for the community resonate in every interaction. Susan goes beyond her role by aiding Chinese seniors with English translation and delivering tailored, personalized patient care, exemplifying her dedication to ensuring the well-being of our community patients.

Janet has been an integral part of the team for nine years, managing the front shop and providing valuable support in the pharmacy. Her proficiency in speaking both Filipino and Cantonese has made her an invaluable resource for the Chinese community. Patients consistently appreciate Janet's caring service and her willingness to help, creating a welcoming experience for them.
